BPYL / Delivery plane / Prototype

A 3D-printed delivery plane. Launched by a quadcopter.

A prototype we're developing for package delivery. A quadcopter lifts it off a launch platform and releases it in the air, so nobody has to throw it.

  • 2–3 hof assembly
  • €40airframe without electronics, approximately

The problem

The riskiest moment is the launch.

3D-printed planes are heavy. One bad throw before the plane is tuned can mean a crash and a lot of rework.

So we don't throw it.

How it works

A quadcopter does the launch.

Launch platform
Two work stands with 3D-printed supports. The quadcopter sits on the supports, with the plane hanging below it.
Supports fold out
The supports fold out automatically during launch, so the plane doesn't hit the platform or get stuck on it.
Release in the air
The quadcopter releases the plane in the air and can then be used again.
